Books I Thought Were Overhyped Until I Actually Read Them

Today, I’m going to be writing about a couple of books I saw on booktube that were getting a lot of hype. These are books I wasn’t really ever intending on reading but I either saw them on sale or I got them in subscription boxes and actually ended up enjoying them.

The first book on my list is The Night Circus by Erin Morgenstern. This book was getting a lot of hype last year with a few people saying it was their favourite book. I saw it on sale and decided to find out for myself and I must say, it was the best book of 2017 for me. It was so beautiful and atmospheric. I felt like I was really at the Cirque de Reves. It was magical.

My second book is one that was everywhere late last year and early this year, I think and that is Children of Blood and Bone by Tomi Adeyemi. As most of you know, I bought this book from the YA Chronicles stall at ComicCon. I chose this book because I had seen it everywhere and I finally decided I needed to know. I did not regret my decision. It is deserving of the hype. It made me feel so many emotions. I am planning on doing a reread of it next year in preparation for the release of the sequel.

And my third book is one I’m currently reading. I haven’t been able to get through much because I’m sick right now, but what I’ve read so far I love. I bought this book from the YA Chronicles because I wanted to know why people loved it so much. It’s Vicious by VE Schwab. I’m only 98 pages in. Literally 2 pages off 100 and it’s fantastic so far. The story is written in a non linear fashion which confuses me at first, but I got the hang of it pretty quick just like with The Night Circus.

Some hyped books I plan on picking up in the future are Strange The Dreamer and Daughter of Smoke and Bone by Laini Taylor and Three Dark Crowns by Kendare Blake.

That’s all for today.

Thank you for reading 🙂
