It’s wrap up time. I got through 2 and 3/4 of my books this month, so let’s get to it!
The first book I read was KING OF FOOLS BY AMANDA FOODY!!!
I gave it 5/5 stars!!! I read this physically and also listened to it on audiobook. I loved the narrator for this book, she was phenomenal. And I also loved the book itself, but by the end, I was listening to it while reading along with the book. The stakes were higher, we got an extra perspective and we uncovered more secrets from the City of Sin. Also, we got a girl gang in this one which was amazing. I loved how Enne grew into a stronger more dangerous woman in this. I loved her power and her vulnerability. It made her character seem more real. Overall, it was an amazing story to watch unfold. I hope there’s another book coming because this one ended on a cliffhanger!
I then finished Thunderhead by Neal Shusterman.
I also gave it 5/5 stars. This was an amazing read. So much happened in this one and it’s made me so excited for The Toll. Neal Shusterman has a fantastic writing style that uses tiny plot points that seem unimportant on their own to create an entire intricate tapestry of a storyline that all fits together perfectly. Anything left open will surely be answered in The Toll as things that ended openly in Scythe were answered in Thunderhead. I also loved seeing how Citra and Rowan had grown in this instalment and can’t wait to see what happens to them in the future.
And the last book was Soldier by Julie Kagawa, the third book in the Talon Saga. I technically finished this on August 1st, but I will be posting about it here because I read 99% of it in July. I gave it 4/5 stars mainly because the love triangle became a big part of the plot and there were at least six whole chapters that focused on this love triangle and nothing else. I found it to be quite similar to Twilight. I am currently creating a post comparing the Talon Saga and the Twilight Saga and will hopefully have it ready to go soon.
So now for my August TBR.
August is a big month for me. I’m getting married on the 17th and will obviously be going on my honeymoon right after so I won’t have much time for reading. But I definitely want to read The Hunger Games because my fiancé has bought me the beautiful 10 year special editions. I love these covers so much and I’m excited to pick up these books again (not one after the other though).
If I finish that before the 17th then I’ll just pick up something else. I’m a bit sceptical about taking any books with me on my cruise because I doubt I’ll actually read anything, but we shall see. Also, I would rather it be something I own so I won’t have to pay library fees if I lose it on the cruise, so it’ll most likely end up being the first book in the Heroes of Olympus series by Rick Riordan because it’s the only book on my Top 10 Books I Want To Read in 2019 list that I actually own and have not read yet (I own King of Fools and The Hunger Games). Everything else I’ve been getting from the library or ebooking.
Well, that’s all for this post. Comment the books you read this month. Byes 👋
