@BELIEVATHON TBR: My first ever readathon!

A few months ago, I mentioned that I don’t participate in readathons, and my reasoning for that was that I could never read more than one book in one week. But now, Gavin at Gavin Hetherington has created a MONTH LONG READATHON. But not only is it a long-ish readathon, it’s also completely dedicated to reading children’s and middle-grade books. Now, I am predominately a YA reader, but I also love a great middle-grade book, and I saw this as a good opportunity to get through some of the books on my shelf.

What’s this readathon called you ask? It’s Believe In The Impossible Readathon! Believathon for short.

B

This readathon will start in your timezone at midnight on November 1st 2019 and end on the 31st of November. Like all readathons, this one has ten prompts and a group book,  and they are:

1. Read a book featuring Magic
2. Read a book featuring Myths/Legends
3. Read a book about Real Life Issues
4. Read a book Set In The Past
5. Read a book with Strong Friendships
6. Read a Creepy/Atmospheric book
7. Read a Seasonal book
8. Read a book with an Animal Character
9. Read a Classic
10. Read your Childhood Favourite                                                                  11. Read the group book (optional). The group book is Frostheart by Jamie Littler. Gavin has said that we can read this book and mark it as part of the readthon BEFORE November 1st.

I am going to attempt to complete all 10 of these prompts by reading 6 books. I have already started Frostheart. So, now let’s get into my Believathon TBR!

Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone (Hufflepuff Edition) by JK Rowling. This book obviously features magic, and we all know what it is about so I don’t need to write a synopsis for this one.

Heroes of Olympus: Mark of Athena by Rick Riordan. This book fulfills the prompts of Myths and Legend, and Strong Friendships. This book series is the successor of the Percy Jackson series. It focuses on the Great Prophecy which was mentioned in the Percy Jackson series. We meet more characters, get to know about the Roman Gods and of course, go on quests to save the world from evil.

The first book in The Vampires Blood Trilogy by Darren Shan. This book fulfills the prompt for Creepy/Atmospheric read. This is about a boy, named Darren Shan, who has to struggle with the fact that he is now a half-vampire.

Land of Elyon: The Dark Hills Divide by Patrick Carman. This fulfills the prompts for Animal Character (there are many animal characters), A Childhood Favourite and a Seasonal Read (summer). I am aware that I read this last year, but I’m going to say it again. I LOVE THESE BOOKS! This first book is about Alexa Daley who goes to the walled city of Bridewell every summer. While there she visits the library and spends alot of time with her friend Warvold. However, things change this summer when Warvold suddenly dies and leaves her a key to the outside world kicking off an adventure to the save the city from the forces of evil.

Alice In Wonderland by Lewis Caroll. This fulfills the prompts for Classic and Set In The Past. Again, we all know what this is about.

And lastly, Chinese Cinderella by Adeline Yen Mah. This fulfills the prompt for Real Life Issue. You can find more information about it here.

So that is my TBR for Believathon. Let me know in the comments if you are participating and leave a link to your TBR.

Thank you for reading. Bye 🙂
